Paper vs. vinyl: pick the right material

The stock decides where a sticker can live. Paper stickers are cheap and great for indoor jobs – box seals, product labels, and event handouts.

Vinyl stickers are waterproof and tear-resistant. So they hold up on bottles, jars, laptops, and anything used outdoors or handled a lot. Tell our free design team how the sticker will be used and we will pick the right stock.

Sticker material comparison

Standard sticker sizes and where each one fits

Sticker size drives cost, and it drives where the sticker actually gets used. A few common sizes with their real-world applications:

Volume drops the per-sticker cost fast. 100 units of a 3” die-cut vinyl is the price sweet spot for a brand testing a giveaway; 1,000+ units of the same sticker cuts the unit cost by roughly half. Sheeted or rolled formats also shift pricing — a sheet of 12 smaller stickers usually beats 12 individual singles per unit.

Print-ready artwork for stickers

Sticker artwork is simpler than a full carton because there are no fold lines, but a few file rules keep the finished die-cut on-brand:

• Vector, not raster. Send an AI, EPS, or PDF with the artwork as vector shapes and vector type. A vector die-line cuts cleanly to any shape at any size. A JPG or PNG at low resolution pixellates on a printed 3-inch face.
• Colors in CMYK or Pantone. RGB shifts on press — a bright RGB green often turns muted olive on a printed sticker. Convert to CMYK before you send, or supply a Pantone (PMS) number for brand-critical colors so we match on press.
• 3 mm bleed on the die-cut line. Extend background art 3 mm past the intended cut line. That way, if the die-cut drifts by a fraction of a mm on press, no white edge shows on the finished sticker.
• 3 mm safe zone inside the die-cut line. Keep all important art (logo, text, key details) at least 3 mm inside the cut line. That protects them from accidental trimming.
• Outline all fonts. Convert type to outlines (paths) before you export. That way the printed sticker uses your exact typeface even if we do not have your font installed.
• 300 DPI at final size for any raster. If your artwork uses a photo or a raster texture, deliver it at 300 DPI at the sticker's final print size. Lower resolutions look soft on a small printed sticker and blurry on a larger one.

What DPI and bleed do I need for artwork?

Art at 300 DPI, in CMYK color, with 1/8 in bleed on every side and text kept 1/8 in inside the cut line. If you do not have print-ready files, our free design team sets them up.

Do you offer clear, holographic, or metallic stickers?

Yes. Beyond paper and vinyl we print clear (transparent), holographic, metallic silver and gold, and kraft stocks. White-ink underprint keeps colors punchy on clear or kraft stock. Resin doming adds a raised, glossy 3D finish.

Are your sticker inks and adhesives safe for food contact?

Standard stickers are for outer packaging and non-food surfaces. For direct food-contact labels we can supply food-safe, low-migration inks and adhesives that meet FDA indirect food additive rules. Just note the use case on the quote.

What is the turnaround time?

Can I get tamper-evident stickers?

Yes. Destructible and perforated tamper-check stocks split or tear when peeled. So a seal cannot be re-applied without leaving proof. This is standard for supplements, food, and CBD.

What is the most popular sticker size for brand giveaways?

3 inches. It is large enough to read the logo and typography from a normal viewing distance on a laptop or water bottle, and small enough to keep the per-unit cost low. Round or die-cut-to-shape at 3 inches is the size we quote most often for giveaway and insert-freebie runs.

How thick is a vinyl sticker vs. a paper sticker?

Our standard vinyl stickers are around 100–120 micron (about 4 mil) — thick enough to peel cleanly and lay flat, thin enough to conform to a curved water bottle. Paper stickers are thinner at about 80 micron (3 mil), which is fine for envelope seals and short-life indoor labels. For anything outdoor or wet, spec vinyl.

Can you print kiss-cut sticker sheets?

Yes. A kiss-cut sheet has multiple stickers on one printed backing sheet, with each sticker's outline cut through the vinyl but not through the backing. Peel one sticker off and the rest stay on the sheet. Common for sticker packs (5, 10, or 20 stickers on one sheet) and product insert packs.
